About GAZE

GAZE is a prestigious independent curatorial project created to connect contemporary Japanese fine art photography with the Italian and international cultural scenes.

In an era saturated with standardized images, Japanese fine art photography continues to stand out for its rigorous formal exploration, refined attention to detail, and profound conceptual sensitivity.

In this context, GAZE carries out a meticulous and authoritative selection process to identify the most mature and original expressions of the Japanese art scene, offering them a direct and reputable channel of access to the Western art market and collecting community.

Curatorial Framework

To ensure that every published project resonates and carries weight, GAZE employs a two-tiered selection process:

The Digital Space

The projects selected through the four seasonal Open Calls come together in a permanent exhibition space characterized by a minimalist and rigorous aesthetic.

This curated archive serves as a reference point for curators, gallery owners, publishers, and collectors, designed to provide effective international visibility and foster new networking opportunities.

The Annual Catalog

From among the projects featured in the Digital Space throughout the year, a further selection identifies ten works to be included in the annual monographic publication.

Published in a 23×23 cm format, with high-quality printing and a graphic design that reflects the minimalist style of the online gallery, the volume brings the artists’ work back into physical form, dedicating a carefully curated sequence of ten images to each project.

The catalog is distributed and presented at galleries, specialized bookstores, and art institutions in Italy, offering curators and collectors a tangible document and a solid credential for the artist’s bibliographic and professional trajectory.

Promotion and Exhibition Presence

Inclusion in the GAZE archive guarantees artists immediate and measurable international visibility. Thanks to a targeted promotional strategy and ongoing investment in the platform’s digital presence, the website attracts a steady stream of qualified visitors, curators, gallery owners, collectors, and art enthusiasts from around the world, offering selected artists tangible feedback backed by transparent traffic metrics.

Exhibition Opportunities

Through its network of relationships with galleries, nonprofit spaces, and cultural institutions in Italy, GAZE acts as an active bridge to facilitate artists’ participation in group and solo exhibitions through invitations and curatorial selections.

Exhibition Productions

For artists seeking to establish a physical presence in the Italian market through custom-designed exhibitions, GAZE offers a comprehensive service covering curation, installation, and logistical coordination. Through transparent agreements and shared-production models, GAZE guarantees access to high-quality exhibition spaces, establishing clear and sustainable terms commensurate with the scope of each photographic project.

Curator

GAZE was conceived and is directed by Mino Di Vita, a professional photographer, author, and independent curator based in Italy.

With a solid background in architectural and documentary photography, he has developed a deep understanding of the visual and institutional dynamics linking Italy and Japan.

His work is grounded in an ongoing presence and collaboration with Tokyo’s art scene, reinforced by exhibition projects and portfolio reviews in collaboration with the Roonee 247 fine arts gallery.

His deep understanding of Japanese visual culture, combined with his active involvement in Italian collecting and curatorial circles, ensures that artists benefit from a transparent working relationship, a rigorous respect for the artwork, and authoritative guidance in positioning their visual research on the international stage.
